This is a Colt Single Action Army .45 cal. Frontier Six Shooter
that belonged to the famous Western Silent Movie Star
William S. Hart. The Colt has all matching Serial Numbers
and comes with a “Colt Letter.” It has the “Rearing Colt logo
in the frame and on the original hard rubber Grips.
There is a small “heart” on the bottom of the Butt of the Gun.
Wm. S. Hart was born on December 6th 1865 in Newburgh, New York.
He died in Saugus California in 1946 at the age of 80 near where he
had a Ranch. The Collection comes this Colt SA Army .45 cal. Revolver, A Colt Letter, and with 3 Photo’s / one signed and two framed and the third one was a trade card. The Colt in the autographed photo is the same gun he is holding. Plus his Book “My Life East and West is an Autobiography and which is also Autographed by him on the front page and dated in 1936. There are a number of pictures throughout his book of him acting in Stage Productions /Shakespearian Plays, Iron Mask, etc. as well as a picture of him with Mary Pickerford and Cecil de Mill and others.
One of his earliest acting productions was playing Messala in “Ben Hur” by famed General Lew Wallace. Then he turned to Western Motion Pictures. In his book there are sensational pictures of him on horseback etc.
